Recently my Lenovo S2109 tablet has started to slow down a lot. What I didn’t do: I deleted all unnecessary programs, and cleaned it with special utilities, and even tried to reset it to factory settings...
This is where disappointment awaited me: the tablet was not reset to factory settings. Before this, I first hacked the tablet, getting ROOT, and then encrypted it. And now there was no way to reset the tablet. There was only one thing left to do - flash the tablet.
I’ll say right away that I didn’t succeed right away. I downloaded a bunch of firmware, re-read a bunch of material and nothing came out for two days. But as it turned out, the best solution turned out to be quite simple.
When is device firmware required?
Firmware for a gadget means changing the operating system to a more stable or new one. There are many reasons to perform this process.
For example, new official firmware allows you to install more games and interesting applications from the Play Market, provide new functions that simplify your work, eliminate a large number of problems and errors, and also provide a fresh and attractive interface.
As for custom options, such assemblies often give the user more rights to set various resolutions and work with the OS, that is, they are installed with superuser access, removing any restrictions from the device owner.

Drivers for updating tablet firmware via PC
The most stable way to flash any device is to use special utilities and additional equipment in the form of a USB cable, laptop or computer. Using this method, Android firmware for Lenovo is installed even on bricked devices. No special skills are required: it is important to choose the right additional utility, make sure that the USB cable is fully functional, and take care of the drivers.
The last point should be given special attention, because often most errors during flashing are associated precisely with out-of-date versions of device drivers for PCs.
Step-by-step instructions for flashing Lenovo tablet firmware
Let's move directly to the firmware of the Lenovo tablet computer. But first there are a few things to consider.
First, read all the instructions, and if everything is clear, you can proceed with the installation.
If you have doubts and are not sure about something, it is better to take the device to a service center so that the firmware can be installed there. After all, if you make a mistake, you can turn the equipment into a brick.
Step-by-step instruction:
- Fully charge your device.
- Download the selected firmware to your computer.
- Connect the device to your computer via a USB cable.
- Open the device manager (open the “Computer” folder, right-click on an empty space in the folder, click on “Properties”, right-click on “Device Manager”).
- At the port to which the USB is connected, right-click and select “Update Driver”.
- Download and install drivers for your Lenovo model from this site.
- Download and install the OS installation program FlashTool .
- Disconnect the gadget from the computer.
- Launch the FlashTool software on your PC by double-clicking the executable file in .exe format.
- Click on the “Scatter-Loading” button.
- Select the operating system file with .txt format. Most often, this file is located in the “target_bin” folder.
- At the top of the “Option” panel you need to find the line “Download”, and check the box next to the inscription “DA DL ALL WITH Cheksum”. This is necessary so that after completing all procedures the device turns on.
- Click on “Firmware Upgrade”. The file integrity check will start.
- When the check is completed, the program will wait for the gadget. It must be turned on and connected to the computer via a USB cable. As soon as the software detects the connected gadget, the firmware installation will start automatically.
- When the process is complete, a window with a green checkmark inside will appear. Now you can disconnect the equipment from the computer and close the program.
- Turn on your tablet computer.
This completes the firmware for the Lenovo tablet. Please note that the first power-up will take longer than usual. This is fine.
Important: during the installation of the operating system, the connection should not be interrupted under any circumstances, be it by breaking the connection, turning off the computer, or turning off the mobile device.

Firmware for Lenovo tablet using Update Tool L3
When considering the variety of programs for flashing your tablet, be sure to pay attention to the Update Tool L3 utility.
A distinctive feature of this software is its remarkable interface, designed in such a way that the user can quickly update the gadget to the current software version.
It should be noted that the program for flashing the Lenovo tablet does not have third-party settings. You download the firmware, connect the phone and launch the software. All you have to do is wait until the program installs the software itself.
How to flash a Lenovo tablet?
It turned out that Lenovo has its own firmware utility - Update Tool L3 - download it.
The program is as simple as three kopecks, but the problem was that to flash the tablet with it, a special system image was required, with the extension .nb0. I found it, download it - firmware for the Lenovo S2109 tablet .
You will also need drivers for the tablet, otherwise you won’t be able to flash the tablet through your computer. I also found the drivers, download them - driver for Lenovo tablet . Just in case, download these drivers too, if suddenly there are not enough of them - drivers for the Lenovo tablet .
After you have downloaded everything, let's proceed to flashing the tablet's firmware. First, you need to turn off the tablet (before that, do not forget to fully charge it) and then you need to press the MINUS volume, and holding it and without releasing it, press the power button. Hold everything together until the tablet vibrates once.
Then release the power button, but continue to hold the MINUS button until you see a screen like this:
After this, we connect the tablet to the computer on which you have already (but you can now) install the driver package. The tablet should be detected in the device manager.
Firmware for tablet using SD card
Another popular way to flash Android devices is to install new software from an SD card. In this case, the operating system update takes place through an additional card onto which the user has uploaded the firmware in advance. It should be noted that if you decide to flash a Lenovo tablet via the tablet using an SD drive, you can use any recovery menu preinstalled on the tablet and even a PC.
This type of installation also does not cause complications even for inexperienced users. Moreover, it is more practical, because using an SD card you can even flash those devices that no longer turn on after a serious failure.
Where to download Lenovo firmware
The first step to install the operating system is to download the firmware that will be installed on your tablet or phone.
There are many sites for downloading firmware. I can recommend one of many - Proshivkis.ru.
It regularly updates versions, and most importantly, they post both official and custom firmware, which is also known as custom.
The portal to which I provided a link above publishes only verified operating systems, so there is no need to worry about the installation of malicious software.
Moreover, you first need to select the model of your smartphone or tablet computer on the website, and only then click on the required operating system. The link to the portal page with Lenovo brand models is here: https://proshivkis.ru.
Official firmware
Now I want to dwell briefly on the types of firmware. There is an official version that is approved by the manufacturers of a certain model of mobile device.
Such an operating system is optimized for a specific model and is guaranteed to work well on it.
I recommend installing the official firmware versions, because they will definitely function stably on your device.
Yes, in the case of outdated or problematic models, it will be possible to install only older versions of Android, but I believe that Android 7, which is guaranteed to work stably, is better than Android 10, which may simply not be suitable and slow down the functioning of the entire mobile device. and generally make it slower.
The fact is that any version of the operating system has system requirements. For the device to function normally, it must meet these requirements. But that's not all.
In addition to technical specifications, hardware components must support a specific version of the operating system. In particular, we are talking about the chipset, be it Qualcomm or Chinese processors.
If the chipset was not designed for any Android, then it either will not work on it, or will work worse.
Custom
Custom firmware means a custom operating system. This can be either firmware based on the Linux kernel, or Android modified by private developers.
As a rule, custom versions of operating systems boast a large number of functions and capabilities that make working with a mobile device easier. It would seem that this is an ideal option, but no.
Again, I will express my own opinion, which many will argue with, but I highly do not recommend installing custom operating systems.
Of course, most private developers try to optimize their work for a variety of models, but their knowledge, and most importantly, capabilities, are significantly inferior to the capabilities of official developers.
There are often cases when, after installing custom firmware, the gadget does not turn on, starts to work more slowly, and all sorts of errors and other problems arise. However, private developers do not bear any responsibility for this.

- Android Pie 9.0 or just a pie - there’s nothing to say, the best thing there is now!
- 8.1 Oreo is also a very good option, not raw, unlike the nine.
- Seven Nougat – suitable for those with mid-range or budget-class hardware.
- Six Marshmallows is a good thing, of course, but outdated, something newer would be better.
- Android 10
- Android 11 (2020)
