In the mid-price gadget market in 2015, it was still difficult to find a super-efficient model with a wide range of sensors and unique add-ons. For this reason, the device from Lenovo at the time of release did not stand out for its characteristics: a 5-inch IPS display, 1 GB of RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus.
The only feature is a fairly capacious 4000 mAh battery. The factory firmware of the Lenovo A5000 may not fully unlock the potential of the capacious battery due to high power consumption compared to new versions of Android.

Lenovo A5000 firmware process
In order not to mess up the partition layout, it is recommended to install the firmware on the Lenovo A5000 using the SP Flash Tool utility, and not through custom Recovery.
Step No. 1 – installing drivers
Download and unpack the archive with a set of drivers, then go to the “USB_Driver...” folder. Next, select the folder with the name of the operating system installed on the PC.
Inside there are 2 files – for 32-bit and 64-bit systems (the file name ends with “64”). Right-click on the file corresponding to your system, and then select “Install” from the list that appears.
Step No. 2 - software installation
Download the latest available version of the official firmware for Lenovo A5000 by unzipping it to the root of any disk.
After launching the Flash Tool utility, hold down the Ctrl+O combination on your keyboard, then go to the “Download”
and check the box next to
“... with Checksum”
.
While in the “Download”
, follow the instructions:
- Select “MTK_AllInOne_DA”
opposite
“Download-Agent”
; - Select “Download Only”
; - Uncheck the PRELOADER
;
specify the path to the file “...Android_scatter.txt”
located in the folder with the firmware;
- Disconnect the smartphone with the memory card removed;
- Click on the “Download”
(with a green arrow pointing down); - Connect the A5000 to your PC using a USB cable.
Once the download process is complete, turn the device off and on again by holding down the power button. The download can take up to 15 minutes.
If suddenly the Lenovo A5000 does not turn on after flashing the firmware, roll back: repeat the entire procedure again with the only difference being that instead of the latest version of Android, install the stock software.
3. Unzip all drivers and install them on your PC, unzip the firmware and SP Flash Tool to the root of any disk (it is advisable that the name does not contain Cyrillic characters); 4. Run the SP Flash Tool program as an administrator, after launching, press Ctrl+O and go to the Download item, check the box next to DA DL All with Checksum, then close the options window;
5. In the Download-Agent field, select MTK_AllInOne_DA (if not selected); 6. In the Scatter-loading File field, select the file MT6582_Android_scatter.txt, which is in the folder with the firmware and wait for the program to check the integrity of the firmware file (usually a couple of seconds); 8. In the drop-down menu, which is immediately below the Scatter-loading File inscription, select “Download Only”, do not mix it up here, otherwise you risk damaging the phone; 9 . Turn off the phone; it is not necessary to remove the SIM card and memory card; 10. In the SP Flash Tool program, click the Download button with the green down arrow. 11. Using the included USB cable, connect the turned off Lenovo a5000 smartphone to the computer, after which the firmware process should start. 12. When the download (firmware) is complete, a window with a large check mark will appear.
13. Disconnect the phone from USB and turn it on. Usually the first boot takes a little longer than usual (3 to 10 minutes). 14. After the initial setup, but before installing all applications, check your region. In the dialer (program for making calls), dial ####682# and look at what is written in the Current code window. If it says CH, then select yours, click OK and wait for the phone to wipe /system and /data. Then we set it up again and use it for our health.
Obtaining Root (super user rights) on the Lenovo A5000 smartphone
Preparatory process: branded cable and driver installation
If you do not have an installation disk from the manufacturer, then you have a direct route to the official technical support website. However, there are a sufficient number of reputable sites on the Internet, with a lot of specialized forums, where anyone suffering from “new impressions” can easily find the required set of firmware drivers.
Moreover, the Lenovo brand does not particularly “bother” with the variety of specialized software for synchronizing and initializing the computer devices it produces (for those who have no time to search, you can click on the image above and download the required set of drivers).
So, after you have downloaded the necessary Driver pack to your PC and first unpacked it, do the following:
- Go to the “Device Manager” section and connect your smartphone to the computer using the original USB cable.
- After the operating system detects the new device, use the “Update Drivers” button and specify the path to the folder with the unpacked archives.
- When your mobile device, as they say, is successfully registered in the system, you can move on to the next stage of our enterprise “Firmware for Lenovo A5000”.

I also noticed a funny thing - Antutu shows that this animal has a Snapdragon 200 installed, but in reality it is still an MT6582. Also, CPU-Z shows a capacity of 1 ampere, instead of 4.
When purchasing this device, keep in mind that it comes with a protective film installed from the factory. According to reviews from those who have already purchased it, very often it is installed crookedly (literally and figuratively), as a result of which characteristic bubbles appear and sometimes part of the front camera is covered.
In the sun, even at maximum brightness, the colors fade and one gets the impression of a picture with a gamut that is several times higher. Although the main interface elements still remain visible.
There is an interesting inscription on the battery - Rated capacity: 3900mAh, Typical Capacity: 4000 mAh. What this could mean and how it will affect the life of the battery is not entirely clear. It’s not clear how much maximum the phone can work on one charge, since I couldn’t discharge it before turning it off after 5 days of use in emergency mode. It will probably last a week for sure, since on the 5th day there was 23% battery charge left.
Also, initially, a lot of unnecessary software and games were installed on the phone, fortunately most of them can be removed, except for a few Lenovo ones. Unfortunately, apk files still remain in memory and take up about 1.5 GB. They are located in the /Apps folder to which (as expected) there is no access. Let's hope that soon the Romodels will release a lite version without all this junk.

Downloading and installing firmware software
Updating the Android operating system involves using a specialized firmware program - SP Flash Tool. At the same time, to upgrade the version of the mobile OS, the firmware file itself is required. In our case, for example, the official firmware will be used, through which your smartphone will become a receiver of Android OS Kit Kat 4.4.2.
You should not use such software downloaded from untrusted sources, as as a result you risk being left without a phone. In turn, the restoration of “mobile bricks” will be quite expensive for the user if he contacts a specialized workshop. Be smart and use only official firmware.

On our website we have posted the first firmware for the A5000 in case the phone freezes or does not want to turn on. You can download it from this link.
If this is your first time purchasing an Android or Lenovo smartphone, we recommend reading the instructions for use. It describes all possible initial tips for using a smartphone. For example, how to insert a SIM card or turn on the phone. You can find the Lenovo A5000 manual by following this link.
Why update the firmware on Android
Everyone's motives are different, but mostly to eradicate some problems with the phone.
- There are problems with the front selfie camera; let’s say it takes pictures that are far from the quality indicated on the lens.
- Poor display response to touch.
- I would like to see the new Android Pie 9.0.
- I'm tired of the old version of Android and want new features and capabilities.
- The phone doesn't turn on.
- The phone stopped charging.
- First you need to download the firmware by selecting one of the options below. Along with it in the archive is the necessary set of programs (TWRP and others).
- Next, unpack the archive and find the file “instructions_rootgadget.txt”. The archive can be unpacked using any archiver (7ZIP, WinRar and others).
- The firmware file contained in the zip archive must be downloaded to a memory card or smartphone memory.
- For other information and sequence of actions, see the text instructions.
Lenovo A5000 firmware
Choose what you like, but it is best to download the most modern versions, they have more optimized energy consumption and other joys of life.
- Android Pie 9.0 - one might say the flagship OS, but still a little unfinished
- 8.0 Oreo is an excellent option, with a minimum of bugs and rich functionality, but version 9 is certainly better.
- 7.0 Nougat is a stable version in all respects, it works even on low-power hardware.
- 6.0 Marshmallow - versions 5 and 6 are already really old, although they were once the pinnacle of progress. But if you switch to them from versions 3 or 4, then of course the difference is very noticeable.

What does Lenovo firmware mean? This term in relation to phones/smartphones is used to mean software replacement. If there are failures in the system settings of the mobile device, it must be reinstalled or completely updated. To accomplish this, firmware is performed - software is installed or updated.
Phone firmware is usually done in the following situations:
- software update, installation of more modern versions
- on the contrary, installing an old version of the software if the new one works intermittently or simply does not suit the owner
- interface improvement.
Remember that low-quality firmware leads to malfunctions of the mobile device, some functions may fail, contacts and information stored on the phone are lost. In this case, the guarantees provided by the manufacturer are canceled. If you still decide not to contact service centers, then carefully study our recommendations to find out how to flash Lenovo correctly and efficiently.
For different Lenovo models, the principle of operation is the same. Therefore, if you were looking for how to flash a Lenovo a319 phone via a computer or how to reflash a Lenovo p780, as well as how to flash a Lenovo a328, our article will help you solve these problems.
Firmware via FlashTool program
FlashTool is constantly updated to improve support for new devices. For older phones it is recommended to use the third version of the program, and for modern smartphones - the fifth.
Where to begin
Flashing Lenovo is a complex process that requires many requirements to be met. What should you prepare first?
- Be sure to charge your phone at least halfway. The whole process of flashing, turning on and off will require energy.
- At the first stage, you will not need a battery, so you will need to turn off your smartphone and remove the battery.
- Download the special mode drivers, then install them on the computer with which you will flash the smartphone. It is better to get them from the official website of the manufacturer Lenovo.
- Again, on the manufacturer’s website, download the required firmware version and the FlashTool program to work.
When everything is prepared, you can begin the process itself.
Installing drivers
- Download the required firmware version and driver. Unzip the archive to your desktop or any folder.
- Install the USB driver.
- Open the 0.17 folder, find the installation file with the extension .exe, run it.
- In the installation window that opens, click “Next” without checking any boxes.
- You will be prompted to select a folder to install the driver; you can install it in the default folder.
Installing the firmware mode driver
- Open Device Manager on PC
- Connect your smartphone without battery (battery removed first) to PC
- A message will appear in the dispatcher for 2-3 seconds stating that an unidentified device is connected. Right-click on this device and in the window that opens, select “ Update driver”, indicating the folder in which you placed the downloaded drivers.
Once the drivers are installed, a device will appear in Device Manager listed as “MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port (COM44).”
The actual firmware process
- Disconnect your phone from your PC;
- Launch the Flash_Tool program by running the file with the .exe extension from the folder where you recently installed this program;
- Click on “Scatter-Loading”, which is located on the right in the program window;
- Find the firmware file “MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt”, open it. Typically the file is located in the "target_bin" folder;
- At the top of the program panel in the “Option” menu in the “Download” line, check the box next to “DA DL ALL WITH Cheksum”, otherwise the smartphone will not start after flashing, and you will have to do everything again;
- Click on "Firmware Upgrade";
- Wait while the integrity of the files is checked;
- The program will enter standby mode. Insert the battery, connect the turned off phone to the PC. The firmware process will begin automatically.
- Wait for the firmware to finish; a window with a green circle should appear on the monitor;
- Disconnect the phone from the PC, close the program;
- Start the phone in normal mode and check its functionality. After flashing the firmware, the smartphone will take a long time to turn on, you will have to wait. After flashing it is recommended to clear the cache.
Lenovo firmware with modified Recovery
If you find it difficult to install drivers, you can find out how to reflash Lenovo without a PC. There is Recovery for this. This is a special program that allows you to flash new patches and firmware without knowledge of console commands and other difficulties, directly from your phone. But the smartphone must have a pre-installed custom Recovery, it can be ClockworkMod or TWRP.
This method is convenient when you frequently change the firmware. You don’t need to connect to a PC; you just need to install Recovery once and load the new firmware onto a flash drive (microSD).
Follow this algorithm:
- Perform cleaning - Wipe User Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache;
- Download the unpacked archive with firmware to microSD (to the root of the card), insert the flash drive into your smartphone. Download the archive in .zip format.
- Go to the menu. There are three ways to do this:
- Pressing a specific key combination when turning on the mobile device. The combination depends on the smartphone model. Usually on Lenovo phones this is the volume down and power button, which must be pressed at the same time.
- Download Recovery using the Rebooter application or similar. Sometimes the Rebooter mode is suggested to be started by the system when the device is rebooted, about which a corresponding entry appears.
- Restarting the smartphone from the computer via the ADB console by entering the command “adb reboot recovery”.
- Having entered Recovery, press the “Install” button when TWRP is installed, and “install zip from sd card” when using CWM.
- Select the desired archive. In TWRP we move with the sensor, in CWM we move with the volume buttons, and with the power button we activate the selected one.
- Confirm the action “YES” - Install /sdcard/.
- Press the power button.
- After the firmware is completed, run wipe - data - wipe cache - wipe dalvik cache.
Of course, the process of flashing a phone is complicated, but it can be done independently. The main thing is to be careful to install the firmware efficiently. The two methods we have proposed will help solve the problem. The choice of method mainly depends on the availability of a PC.
