MIUI firmware for Lenovo P780. MIUI firmware on Lenovo P780 via TWRP Recovery Lenovo p780 4gb firmware via recovery

Why update the firmware on Android

The answer is as simple as three pennies, often in the software, specifically in the shell made by the smartphone manufacturer based on the Android OS, for example, FlymeOS, there are many shortcomings and bugs. As a result, the user faces various problems and inconveniences. Let's look at examples:

  • Bad pictures with an excellent camera, for example, you have a top camera, like the Sony Xperia Z5, and the photos are a blurry mess, “neither fish nor fowl”.
  • The smartphone does not want to turn on or reboots on its own
  • Hanging and dulling
  • Very strong heating, in this case it is advisable to lower the processor clock frequency, that is, do a downgrade
  • The SIM card disappears or blinks (the problem may also be in the hardware, but it’s worth trying to reflash it)
  • Slow multi-touch screen response
  • Some other problems

There are other reasons, for example, I wanted to get new functionality or look at a new Android.

Download firmware

The choice is of course yours, but we recommend upgrading to Android above version seven

  • Android Pie 9.0 or just a pie - there’s nothing to say, the best thing there is now!
  • 8.1 Oreo is also a very good option, not raw, unlike the nine.
  • Seven Nougat – suitable for those with mid-range or budget-class hardware.
  • Six Marshmallows is a good thing, of course, but outdated, something newer would be better.
  • Android 10
  • Android 11 (2020)

In this video I will show you how to install the official European KitKat firmware on Lenovo P780. In addition, I will show you how to replace the recovery with an extended one, how to replace the radio module on the P780 KitKat, which is relevant for Chinese versions of phones, and how to get ROOT rights to the Lenovo P780 KitKat. Music by: Alexey Pavlovich Gryaznov (HeadArms)

Hello everyone friends! Today is July 19th and for several days now Lenovo P780 phones have the official European KitKat firmware, i.e. Android 4.4 KitKat. This is quite an interesting event, because our Lenovo P780 phone was in line for this firmware, and yet the Lenovo people did it. Even for such a seemingly old phone, announced a year ago. They support it, constantly update the firmware, and make some minor changes, but they even installed Android 4.4. Those. very nice - thank you very much to Lenovo for supporting this device.

Everything's OK. In principle, sometimes there are small brakes, very little, but they are there. At least I noticed that. It is quite possible that the firmware version is still raw and a little later the developers will update and fix everything, but they say that already on Monday, July 21, this firmware will be asked to be updated on all Lenovo phones with European “Stock” firmware. Those. If you have a Chinese phone, and you installed the “Stock” firmware and then replaced the radio module, then on Monday your phone, as soon as it senses the Internet, will want to update, but will not be able to do this because you changed the radio module. The firmware that arrives over the air checks that all files are intact, and if you deleted some applications, or replaced the recovery, or replaced the radio module, then the flasher sees that the original files have been damaged, and is afraid of damaging something irreversibly - It just won't update the firmware. You can install the firmware a few days before the official release. This became possible thanks to the forum https://lenovo-forums.ru/, for which I thank him very much. I took all the files from https://lenovo-forums.ru/. They will be posted on deposit. The link is at the beginning of the article right below the video. In this video I will show you how to install KitKat firmware. There is a small nuance, since the firmware is now only available in the “OTA” version. It now exists in the “OTA” version - this is an update that comes “over the air”. This is not the firmware version that you install from a personal computer onto any firmware in the Lenovo P780, while all data on the phone is formatted and new firmware is installed. So, what do we need to do? Since the firmware is “OTA”, this means that before flashing the phone, it will check that everything is OK and that you have the latest firmware version - European 124, it will also check that you have a complete recovery, that you have the necessary radio module, all Google files, services in place. If the flasher feels that something is wrong with the phone, naturally there will be no installation. For all of you who have Chinese versions of phones, everything is not the same from the start. As a rule, you have an updated recovery and 200% that everyone has a changed radio module. By the way, in KitKat the radio module also needs to be changed, since by default everything works and receives very poorly. We decided that we needed pure Stock, European 124 firmware. Now many will start asking: • Oh, I just changed the radio module, how can I change the radio module back so that later I can flash it and everything will be fine. • I just changed the recovery, let me change the recovery back too, how to do this? Then I tried, but it didn’t work. • And you spoke, but you did not speak. Therefore, we initially install clean, original, 124th European firmware on the P780 from a computer via a flash drive. We don't touch anything else. We upload the zip with the update to the root of the phone and launch the standard recovery. Our updates are installed and we get this VIBE interface, we get kitkat on our P780. After receiving kitkat, you need to immediately clear the cache. After that we use kitkat for the European version.

After flashing the firmware, we will find that our second SIM card, which is in the 2G slot, is not working well. This is also easily solved - we change the radio module. In order to change the radio module, you must first replace the recovery. We will change it using a computer. After we change the recovery, we can change the radio module through this extended recovery (TWRP). After this, we can also get root rights using a patch, i.e. file, which we will launch again from TWRP recovery. It's simple. Here's the entire plan for this video. Before flashing the firmware, be sure to save all your data to your computer, maybe even in several places. Be sure to remove the flash card, SIM cards and charge the battery at least halfway. I have a KitKat. Now I'll take it down. I'll install European 124 firmware. I already showed how to do this in the video, but there is one caveat: your phone can be either 2014, like mine, or 2013, like the one I don’t have in stock right now. The difference is in the buta. If you install 2013 firmware on a 2014 phone, you get a brick. Many people ask, oh, I threw away the box, how to determine what year the phone is. I'm afraid of getting a brick. What are you afraid of? We assume it is from 2013. We sew with 2013 firmware - we get a brick. Everything is simple here, it means our phone is 2014. We change the boot, download it again and get a working phone. No problem! How to flash for a 2013 phone - . How to flash a 2014 phone. It's simple. Choose what year your phone is. We install firmware 124 and then continue. It will be interesting. Everything is done very simply. We turn off the phone completely. Remove the “fast loading” checkbox.

And disconnect the USB cord. Here it is - I turned it off.

Open the flash drive and select the scooter, I have 2014 firmware.

I check that everything is fine.

I check the box “check amount”

and click on software update. All.

Now I connect the USB cable to the switched off phone. You should hear a “bang” from the computer, indicating that you have connected new equipment. And the flashing process began!

After everything is over, we should see the following window:

Everything is completed for us. We turn on the phone. Well, we wait, the first turn on of the phone always takes a long time. This may take 3, 4 or even 5 minutes. Those. You may feel like your phone is frozen. In fact, this is not the case, it just turns on for the first time. Be patient, and before you reboot it or do anything major with it, wait at least 10 minutes. As a rule, 4-5 minutes. The P780 phone turned on, it took me 3 minutes 15 seconds. Now it will launch for the first time, a license agreement has appeared. The 2nd SIM card should have poor network reception - this is normal. Everything worked out, we have the bare, clean, official 124th firmware for the European version. Here it is the latest 124th firmware. Everything is fine.

Now install the OTA update to KitKat. In order for the phone to install these updates, it needs to somehow feed them. To do this, simply copy the update to the root of the phone. The update archive is called “update.zip”. We don’t unpack it, but simply throw it into the root.

Disconnect the cable. It's not needed yet. Well, let’s check that we really have our “update.zip” file in the root of the phone, which has as much as 722 MB.

Wonderful. Turn off the phone. Just like last time, uncheck the Quick Boot box. Completely turn off Lenovo P780. Next we need to go into recovery, to do this we press both volume rockers and the power button.

Press and hold all three buttons until the image appears on the screen. The phone turns on, you can release the buttons.

And so the process began. Here's Booth's status, a little booger that's getting longer.

Those. The recovery found “update.zip” in its root and is immediately updated. As soon as this process is completed we will receive our kitkat. After 2-3 minutes of convulsive, monotonous hanging, the phone began to emit some signs of life. This is wonderful. Now we will be asked to accept the license agreement. You can also go through a simple wizard that will help you select languages and configure your P780 phone. Here is the wizard, he offers to select a language, click next, further.

In any case, we need to do a hard reset. And everything that you have now selected will not be saved and you will need to select everything a second time. All. Ok. You can do a full reset from recovery. To do this, you need to turn off the phone and go into recovery, but you can do it much easier. Open the dialer and dial the following code ####7777#. We are asked if you really want to reset all your data because it will delete all, all, all of your user data. Well, of course we want to. Ok.

Now the phone will reboot. He will go into recovery and pretend that he cleaned something there. After that it will turn off, you will need to turn it on. And again wait 5 minutes until it turns on. Turn it on. And we wait. Here you already select what you need, the language. This, of course, can be done later from the settings menu. But you can do it right away. OK it's all over Now. Everything works for us. Everything is fine. I congratulate you! You now have kitkat installed, the latest version of Android that is available for our beloved Lenovo P780. Now my second card catches the network very poorly.

This is all due to the fact that the European and Chinese versions of the phone have different hardware radio modules. Since we want European firmware for a Chinese phone, we must install a radio module, firewood from the radio module of the Chinese version. What are we going to do now? We install TWRP recovery, then use it to change the radio module. We need an archive that contains all the files that are needed for further procedures. The link to the archive was above. The archive is quite large - 60 MB, but nevertheless it contains everything. We will change the recovery using a computer. To do this, you need to turn off the phone (turn it off completely). Uncheck the “fast boot” box. I don't have a cable connected to my phone right now. In order to replace the recovery, we need the recovery itself and the Flashtool program. I created a mod folder on my local drive D. recovery P780 kit-kat and I’ll prepare everything we need in it. We also need a TWRP recovery mod. Open the folder with TWRP, there are 2 files in it: recovery and scooter. We also put it in our folder. That's it, we have everything.

Let's launch the flash drive. Select the scatter file. I have a lot of firmware on the C drive and I need to make sure that we select the correct scatter file. Here is the TWRP mod. recovery, and here is the scatter file. To make sure everything is correct, the checkbox should be above the recovery item. Everything is fine with us.

To make sure that we have exactly the right recovery, double-click on it, go to drive C, and find the recovery again. And here is our recovery, I indicated it again.

Check the check hashsum box. And we press the download button, we are warned: are you sure? Of course we are. Click Yes.

Now the program is waiting. The phone is turned off. And now we just connect the USB cable. As soon as I connect it, the process should begin. All.

Well, now we directly go into our modified TWRP recovery. If you were unable to enter recovery the first time and the phone started to turn on, then there is no point in turning off the phone and trying to enter recovery again. You will need to sew it again. This is due to the files in Android that the recovery should replace when turned on for the first time. In general, the algorithm is as follows: • Flash the Rakaver and go into it. • If it doesn’t work, flash it again and try to log into it again. After we enter it, the recovery will remain and will not fly off. Now we need the radio module files. To do this, exit recovery by selecting “restart phone”

We connect the phone to the computer, place the radio module on the phone and only then go into recovery. I will change to 51 radio module, since I personally tested it, I like it. It works well. The guys from YouTube, and my subscribers and viewers say that they tried everything, 52 gives the best results. I don't know. I will post you a huge number of these modules. Here they are. See what you like, then take it. These are modules, others.

These are modules specifically for kitkat firmware on P780. They contain some changes regarding radio modules for older firmware. I will install 51 radio modules. If you want to try everything, copy everything and try it one by one, test it. Now we have 4 modules on the phone. Turn off the phone and go into recovery, to do this we hold down both volume buttons, then the power button and wait until the phone starts up. We went into TWRP recovery. We choose what we want to install.

Select our radio module. I want 51 radio modules. I choose him.

Next, we confirm that we really want to install it by moving the slider.

After that, clear the cache.

At the end we reboot.

The Lenovo P780 phone turned on. We see all the “antennas”, that is, the phone catches the network well.

Let's make sure that we have exactly 51 radio modules installed.

Yes, radio module 51. Just as I wanted. In this regard, everything is fine with us. Again, all the sticks are caught. I tested it, it catches well, at least here in Moldova, in Chisinau it works perfectly. My first SIM card is Molded, the second is Orange. Works great. How I tested it: I talked on the phone, people can hear me, and I can hear people the same way. No problem. We received a great phone that works for us on kitkat. It seems to work smoothly, but it seems to lag a little. He sometimes thinks when he does something for the first time, and then he flies.

Installing ROOT We connect our Lenovo P780 to the computer and copy the files for ROOT to the root of the phone. This is the archive of superuser and MobileUncle with the help of which we will make sure that we have ROOT rights.

We remove the cable, we won’t need it anymore, if of course everything goes well. Install MobileUncle via a file browser. We select MobileUncle and install, we are told that the phone is prohibited from installing applications from unknown places, but we will change the settings and allow installation from unknown places. Let's try installing MobileUncle again. We open it right away. We see that we do not have ROOT rights. It's unfortunate...

Turn off the phone. We go into TWRP recovery, press 2 rockers, wait a second and press power. I hold all 3 buttons, as soon as Lenovo vibrates and the message appears, I release all the buttons. We went into TWRP, everything is fine. Select the “install” item and select our superuser file, which we threw into the phone’s memory. If we want to install, we move the slider. Let's see that everything is fine. Successfully. And we reboot.

Now I’ll launch MobileUncle again, I want to make sure that we have ROOT rights.

With this, this long video can be considered finished. While the Lenovo P780 phone is still thinking. That's why he slows down a lot. It seems like he has moved away a little. Let's launch our MobileUncle. We are immediately asked by the superuser that this application (MobileUncle) wants to get ROOT rights. We allow him. And now we see the inscription ROOT. Which is exactly what we needed. Well, that's all friends. I'm sure you don't regret spending time watching this video. If you liked it, be sure to like it. I will be very pleased. If something doesn’t work out for you or works out, be sure to write about it in the comments. But in any case, you see that I showed everything I did with the P780 in the video. Everything worked out for me, I got the latest kitkat firmware on my Lenovo P780 phone. Last module. Well, not the last one - I installed a normal radio module. Everything works well. So I’m sure that you have problems too, but it simply cannot be. But still, if you need anything, be sure to write. I will try, if possible, to help you. Thank you all. Bye. Don’t forget to like the video and write good or not so successful results of your attempts in the comments.

How to get root rights

This is knowledge loaded so to speak. We can recommend two universal applications for this case:

These are the latest versions at the time of writing, there may be newer ones, this can be viewed on the websites of these programs

  • ZYKURoot 2.2 – (website zykuroot.info)

  • Rootkhp Pro 2.7 – (website rootkhp.pro)

These programs have a list of supported devices, but this list is updated haphazardly, so it happens that a device has been supported by the program for a long time, but the developers forgot to write about it.

↑ What is TWRP and why is it needed?

There is an installation option that allows you to flash ZIP files.
This makes it possible to install mods, ROMs and custom kernels, as well as some applications. There is also a backup option designed to make NAND memory backups quick and easy. And there is also a Mount option that gives access to various sections. In addition to the above, an Advanced option is offered with additional settings such as a file manager, the ability to manage MultiROM mods, activity log backup and access to the ADB command console. And without access to this partition, there is Wipe to perform a factory reset or hard reset and clear the cache, and Dalvik, Restore to restore a NAND backup, Settings to set up a custom recovery, and Reboot to reboot the smartphone.

This is a fairly universal utility. It carries many functions, such as:

  1. System backup;
  2. Cleaning partitions;
  3. Recovery;
  4. In addition, it also serves as a basis for installing other firmware modifications.

How to create a backup?

Attention! Resetting will erase all data on your Lenovo P780 8Gb phone. If you haven't backed up your contacts, pictures, videos, documents, and everything else, you should do so, otherwise you'll lose all the personal information you had on your device.

To avoid losing your data, follow these recommendations.

  1. Upload photos, documents and videos to your computer via a USB cable. You can also use Google Photos to backup pictures, and the Google Drive cloud service is suitable for documents and folders, but you can “upload” the number of files onto it. You will have to pay to expand your storage.
  2. To avoid losing contacts and applications, activate cloud synchronization in the settings. Follow the path “System” - “Advanced” - “Backup”. Enable Backup to Google Account.

Once you finish this, you can perform Hard Reset Lenovo P780 8Gb.

↑ TWRP Menu

This section shows the version and manufacturer that is being used.

  1. Install
    – flashes zip files, roms and images.

  2. WIPE
    - allows you to erase certain partitions or phone memory or change file systems. In this section, you can reset your phone and choose which partitions to delete.

  3. Backup
    - backup button. To start the process, just go to the required sections and move the slider below. Select Storage allows you to choose in which part (main memory, SD card, usb) everything will be saved.
  4. Restore
    – a button that restores the backups you have made.
  5. Mount
is the section that determines which partitions can be flashed.
  6. Settings
    - section where TWRP settings are located.
  7. Advanced
    - has a file manager, ADB download and root installation in some TWRPs.
  8. Reboot
is a section in which the device reboots in different modes (recovery, fastboot, etc.).

Important:

We recommend that you perform a full backup of your data. You will need to connect your phone to your computer. Make sure you have installed the USB drivers correctly.

↑ Preparation of the smartphone

First, charge your smartphone to 50% and make sure that it does not turn off during the procedure.
Before installing twrp recovery, make sure your bootloader is unlocked! If you are installing for the first time, then most likely it is blocked for you. To unlock the bootloader, you need to do a couple of steps, which are described below.

  1. Turn on developer mode
    by selecting
