Why your Lenovo tablet won't start and how to fix it

Android tablets have already replaced desktop PCs and TVs for many, becoming part of our daily lives. With Lenovo Tab you can re-read your favorite novel or call your friends wherever they are. Therefore, the unexpected shutdown of the device and lack of response to any of your actions comes as a shock. The owners of these devices immediately run to the service center and pay for imaginary services that actually take no more than an hour of work.

Diagnostics

Have you noticed that your tablet won't turn on or charge? Preliminary disassembly of the device, looking for a broken part or fallen wiring, is not the best solution. It is much more effective to conduct an initial diagnosis and find out the reasons why the accessory does not turn on or charge.

The problem is that why the device turns off on its own is not so easy to figure out, because even flagship models only need a couple of months of operation to start freezing. And now the gadget just turns off and doesn’t turn on, and doesn’t respond to charging. What to do if this happens?

Have you spilled water on your tablet or dropped it, but your Android just turned off and won’t turn on and doesn’t respond to charging? The problem most likely lies in the software.

The reason that the tablet switches off and, at best, the logo lights up at startup, and then the device suddenly turns off, could be an OS update.

If it does not turn on at all, then it is worth checking the serviceability of the battery and charger. It is possible that the device simply suddenly discharged. If it does not turn on, there may simply be no power. How to fix such a breakdown and what not to do?

Why doesn't my phone turn on?

Lenovo cell phones often suffer from problems with software and hardware components, especially if we are talking about budget models. One of the most common is spontaneous shutdown and lack of subsequent response to various user actions. Although the situation seems scary at first glance, only in extreme cases will you need service repairs or replacement of your smartphone. There are three types of sources of these breakdowns:

  • Hardware - a problem in the hardware after falls, temperature fluctuations, tests by the sun, moisture and sand.
  • Software – directly concerns the operating system, viruses and crashes.
  • External – most often, a breakdown of the charger is mistaken for a problem in the smartphone itself.

Let's take a closer look at the reasons why your Lenovo phone won't turn on and how to solve them.

Hardware failures

Not only an unexpected system update causes the tablet to turn off, but also various hardware failures. This could be either a manufacturing defect or the consequences of improper use of the tablet.

Excessive humidity or low temperatures can cause condensation to corrode the board. Extreme temperatures also cause battery degradation. Therefore, you should not immediately complain about the update if the accessory is switched off. This may be a consequence of improper use. Hardware failures are much more serious than a software failure, so you shouldn’t fix them yourself.

When disassembling the gadget, you can additionally damage several tracks and only aggravate the situation. Not to mention, when cleaning a board from rust, never pour alcohol into it. The permissible maximum is to wipe the damaged area with soaked cotton wool, after which remove the remaining dangerous solution with a regular damp cloth.

And if you have something more serious than rust on parts and an incorrectly installed update, you should contact professionals at the service center.

They say the phone fell from half a meter on the first day, and the display was changed because the original one was cracked - they pressed it down with something.

Do you think it's a corpse? Is it possible not to search for control?

Flashing

If during the installation of the firmware the screen goes out and the tablet switches off (shows no signs of life and does not respond to button presses), but the battery is not discharged and is full of energy, we will prepare for the worst.

When installing a pirated OS, you could have made a fatal mistake, which led to the complete erasure of the previous system and the incorrect functioning of the new one. The accessory itself is fine and the hardware functions, but without the necessary program - it simply does not understand what to do when you press the start button. Correcting such an oversight is also quite simple.

Lenovo P780 smartphone does not turn on - repair or replacement?

Lenovo is a Chinese popular company. Although its equipment is manufactured in China, Lenovo is one of the few companies that produces truly high-quality products. Many products can be found much cheaper than competitors, while they are of better quality. Of course, not everything is so smooth for this company either. Some smartphones, computers, and laptops have shortcomings that become apparent during long-term use.

Now we will look at the rather popular Lenovo P780 device. For many users, after a year of use, the phone begins to perform worse. How does this manifest itself? When loading, the Lenovo P780 does not turn on or simply hangs at boot. Of course, this is not the only problem that users face. For example, due to carelessness, the phone is filled with water. What to do in this case? Let's figure it out.

What are the causes of the malfunction?

First of all, we must find out why something went wrong. Once you understand why your device works poorly when you put it on charge, or stops functioning altogether, you can take steps to troubleshoot the problem.

If you disassemble the charging process into its component parts, you can personally diagnose the illness of your electronic pet. There is a difference between a tablet suddenly suddenly stopping functioning and a situation where the problem has long manifested itself as a periodic decrease in charging speed.

Remember, when the android still responded to being connected to a power outlet, did it charge slower than always? If so, you should first find out why it takes a long time to charge the tablet from your network, and whether there are problems with your outlet and wiring at home.

There is also a chance that you simply charged the device incorrectly. You can find out how to properly charge your tablet on the manufacturer’s website, but general advice is as follows: use exclusively “personal” charging; use only proven sockets and electrical networks; Do not use the network during power outages (for example, during a thunderstorm).

If a nutrition problem appeared suddenly and did not manifest itself before, this reduces the range of possible causes. Problems may occur due to the following:

  • battery;
  • contacts;
  • charger;
  • network and network voltage;
  • connecting the board to the display or the board to the battery;
  • other problems (there can be a lot of them - it is recommended to contact the service center).

What to do if your Lenovo tablet is not charging

If your device has stopped charging or is not charging well, you do not have to immediately go to a service center.

You can do an initial diagnosis at home, and in half the cases, it will not only help you find out the cause of the problem, but also fix the problem itself. The reasons and steps to eliminate them listed below are suitable not only in cases where the gadget does not charge.

All options are generally associated with charging problems, and these problems can manifest themselves in different ways:

  • after startup, the device suddenly turns off;
  • it is impossible to charge the battery to 100%;
  • The device is charging, but the power percentage does not increase;
  • the device charges 100% very quickly and loses charge just as quickly;
  • Power supply from the network occurs as if in jumps, abruptly.

I discussed the symptom of slow charging in a separate, last heading.

Replacing the charger

First of all, replace your charger. This is the simplest and most effective method. The charging power supply may have burned out, or something has happened to the cord.

Take another charger and try connecting to the network using it. If the new power supply also does not charge, it is quite possible that it is simply not suitable for your device.

Look on the Internet for the current received in amperes (of your tablet), and compare it with the characteristics indicated on the charger (namely, on the power supply). If the difference is more than two amperes, then this power supply is not suitable. You can also try using the old charger on another gadget. If charging doesn’t work on it either, then that’s definitely the problem.

In cases where the old charger functions properly on another gadget, the battery is most likely faulty.

Checking the cable for fractures

Check the cable for damage. The most effective way is to connect the device to the charger and feel every centimeter of the cable with your fingertips.

If during this process the power appears and disappears, the cable is damaged. The indicator in the tablet will be a great help in this method of checking, since a switched-off tablet will not have time to show the supply of energy, and the indicator will light up instantly.

You can also inspect the cable visually. Does it have holes or strong bends? All of these could be causing the cord to malfunction. I advise you to use the charger carefully and try to collect it “into a ball” less often, since this causes the wires to bend in different directions all the time.

And use only original chargers!

If you have the appropriate skills and equipment, you can fix a broken cable yourself. I know for sure that this is possible, but I have never done it, so I will not take responsibility and provide instructions!

Connector damage

A damaged power connector directly affects performance and charging time. The lifespan of the connector depends on how you treat it.

First of all, you need to try to avoid moisture. Moreover, it’s not just that water does not get on the tablet, but that the gadget is not in places with high moisture.

Therefore, do not carry the device with you into a hot bath, and especially into a sauna, as drops may form in the connector due to steam condensation, which will lead to corrosion, since the entire connector is made of metal.

Also, the device’s power connector may simply be loose due to careless turning on and off of charging.

Visually inspect the connector. Is rust visible? Is the connector installed securely? Is there dust and debris in it? You can check the connector by plugging in the charger and slightly moving the wire closer to the connector.

If the power appears and then disappears, it means there is a problem with it. I also advise you to clean the power connector from dust and rust.

To do this, take a high-quality ear stick that will not leave cotton wool, dip it in ethyl alcohol, and pass it over the connector several times. Then let the alcohol evaporate and try to charge the device.

If possible, change the battery

If a gadget running Android often and quickly discharges, the battery needs to be replaced. Batteries are sold for any Lenovo tablet, although finding a good battery for older models is quite problematic.

If your device has a removable back cover, you can simply buy a battery and replace it yourself. If the case is solid and there is no removable battery, you will have to contact a service center. The deterioration of the battery is indicated by its “swelling” and the appearance of “stains”. If stains cannot be seen on a gadget with a solid body, then “bumps” are easy to notice by turning the device sideways. When these “bumps” are visible from the back, the cause of their appearance can only be the battery. This battery cannot be used.

Doing a hard reset

Sometimes the problem may be hidden in a software problem or technical glitch. Perhaps there is some program or process running on your device that constantly consumes a large amount of energy.

Or the device has lost its parameters for charging correctly. It could also be due to a malware. All these manifestations can be solved by doing a hard reset. This is a “hard” factory reset. It completely returns the system and all software components to their original state, removing all garbage, viruses, applications, photos, videos, music, contacts, etc.

Therefore, before performing a reset, save your important files.

How to reset settings:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the power button and volume slider.

  3. The recovery menu will open. Navigation in it is carried out through the volume buttons, and selection is made by the power button.
  4. Select “wipe data/factory reset”.
  5. Confirm your choice by clicking “Yes - delete all user data”.
  6. Within one or two minutes, the device will return to its factory state. Returning to the recovery menu will indicate a successful reset.
  7. Select “Reset system now”.

The device will reboot and be ready for use.

If there is a problem with charging

Charger failure is another common cause of problems. It has already been mentioned that proper charging involves the use of a native charger for the Lenovo tablet. If you use someone else's, don't be surprised if it doesn't work as it should and the tablet suddenly stops charging.

If you do everything correctly, and the original charger for your device does not function, you need to inspect it for damage. The cord may also be in poor condition and thereby affect the power supply. In principle, even if the charger works normally in a damaged state, it should be replaced; if nothing happens when connected to the device, the damaged items should definitely be replaced with new ones.
