Hardware platform

The smartphone uses a hardware platform from MediaTek MT6589. This platform is very popular among manufacturers from China. The processor consists of four cores with a maximum clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, PowerVR SGX 544MP graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM is 1 GB, of which up to 500 MB is available to the user. Of the 4GB of built-in storage, slightly less than 1GB is available.

Synthetic performance tests show that the MediaTek MT6589 is only slightly behind the Nvidia Tegra 3 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. The device's performance is enough for Asphalt 8 to run at medium settings with a comfortable number of frames per second. There were no problems with a small amount of RAM. Playing video files

Interfaces

WiFi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, access point mode Wi-Fi is a technology for building wireless local networks based on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards. Supported by all modern smartphones and many mobile phones. Bluetooth v4.0 Bluetooth is a universal wireless interface for exchanging data between various types of devices at close range. Can be used for file transfer, audio streaming, network connection, printing and other purposes. The newer the version, the greater the speed and number of supported profiles. Navigation GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS For at least 10 years, smartphones have supported the geolocation function using data from satellite navigation systems. At the moment, these are the American-developed GPS, the Russian GLONASS, the Chinese BeiDou and the European GALILEO. As a rule, smartphones support the first two and optionally the rest. NFC No The built-in NFC module of a smartphone is mainly used for contactless payment in applications like Google Pay and Samsung Pay. Can also be used to read data from contactless cards, transfer files, etc. Read more here. Infrared port No Some smartphones have a built-in IR port. In the past, it was used to synchronize data both between two mobile phones and between a phone and a PC. However, now, due to its low speed, the infrared port is used mainly to control external devices in remote control mode. FM radio No Built-in radio receiver that allows you to listen to radio stations operating in the FM range. In most cases, it only works when headphones are connected, since the wire is used as a communication antenna. However, there are devices with a built-in antenna. 3.5 mm audio Standard audio jack for connecting wired headsets and headphones. Starting in 2021, some smartphone manufacturers, following Apple, began to abandon it. In this case, to connect regular headphones, you need a special adapter for Lightning/USB Type-C. USB Micro USB, On-The-Go The type of USB connector installed in the smartphone and the capabilities it supports.

Equipment

Inside the box, in addition to the smartphone, you can find documentation, an OTG cable, a wired headset, a USB cable and a network adapter with an output current of 2 A. The equipment is almost the maximum possible, the only thing missing is a case. The headset produces sound of average quality, has a flat wire, a straight plug and symmetrical headphone placement. The call button and microphone are located on a block located on the wire leading to the right earpiece.

Display

The Lenovo Ideaphone P780 smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch IPS display with HD resolution. The screen has an oleophobic coating, so fingerprints are easily removed. Auto brightness adjustment works correctly. The display brightness is adjustable from 13 cd/m² to 350 cd/m², the average value is 181 cd/m². Multi-touch for 10 touches is supported. Thanks to the low minimum brightness, it is convenient to use the smartphone in the dark. The display fades in the sun, but remains readable. The color gamut is almost perfect. Blacks are a little darker than they should be, but the screen is generally well calibrated.

Camera

The smartphone has two cameras. The main one is 8 MP, and the front one is 0.3 MP. There is an HDR mode. The video is recorded by the camera in Full HD resolution. It's worth noting that the camera app is called "Super Camera" and the gallery is called "Super Gallery". Perhaps this is how the manufacturer wants to hint at the features of the camera and gallery. The camera has many settings.

Let's start with the preset automatic shooting modes. They are represented by the following modes: “Explosion”, “Panorama”, “Night landscape”, “HDR”, “Twilight”, “Smile”, “Macro”, “Timer”. The “Explosion” mode takes 10 pictures and offers to save the highest quality one. This mode features intelligent selection of the best shot. There are also two more advanced modes - “Group photo” and “GIF”. The Group Photo mode works on a similar principle to the Explosion mode, but it takes 5 photos instead of 10 and asks you to choose the best one. Using the “GIF” mode, you can easily create your own animation shot with a camera or simply by selecting pictures from the gallery. There are a huge number of additional filters for the camera. The good thing is that the selected filter is displayed in real time. The main settings are divided into three main items: “General”, “Advanced” and “Other”. In the general settings, you can change the photo resolution, scene mode, adjust effects, select quality, show an auxiliary line and select where to store the photo. In the advanced settings, you can set the ISO value, white balance and select shooting with the touch of a finger. Other settings include enabling geotagging, muting the camera shutter sound, selecting shooting animations, autofocus mode, and resetting the camera to factory settings. Video camera settings are simpler. There is a choice of camera for shooting video, turning on the flash, choosing white balance, choosing video quality, where to store the videos, sound mode, turning on autofocus and resetting the settings to factory settings. Photo quality is average. Most photos lack saturation.
