The smartphone is equipped with an 8-core MediaTek MT6595M processor, which is manufactured at 28 nm. technical process.

The smartphone has 2 GB. RAM, which is quite enough. In very rare cases it will not be enough, but with this amount of RAM, you will rarely have problems.

The device's data storage capacity is 32 GB, and while this is enough for photos, it may not be enough for video shooting and a large number of games.

Since the phone does not support SD cards, you need to ensure that the device has enough memory for your needs.

The Vibe X2 has a 5-inch display diagonal. The display is large enough that you will rarely have problems with its size. However, this display is not suitable for writing long texts.

The smartphone has a high-end display and any graphic content you display on it, including videos and games, will be displayed clearly.

The main camera of the phone has 12.98 megapixels and can take high-resolution photos and videos. While you're shooting landscapes or printing high-definition photos, you may want a higher-resolution camera, but most of the time you'll be happy with the camera.

Also, the smartphone has a 4.92 megapixel front camera, which is average for smartphone cameras. This is good enough for taking selfies, but you may not be satisfied with group photos or their print quality.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 battery capacity is 2300 mAh, which is a typical capacity indicator. Compared to other smartphones, the Lenovo Vibe X2's battery life is average. You don't have to worry about anything during daily use. However, if you spend time surfing the internet or playing games, you might be a little underwhelmed by the battery life.

Hardware and software

"Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro - a three-layer smartphone with a flash for selfies"

Good afternoon, dear readers! Let's turn again to CES 2015, which presented us with many new products earlier this year. In particular, Lenovo presented to consumers the three-layer Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro smartphone, which was a continuation of the Vibe X2 model.

As they say, the new smartphone is created for creative individuals who are not afraid to stand out from the crowd. The smartphone attracts attention not only due to its unique design of three colors, but also due to the excellent technical component of the device. Many critics even called the Vibe X2 Pro the best new product of the exhibition.

What kind of “fruit” is in front of us?

In appearance, the new smartphone is not very different from the previous model (although there are some changes), but the internal content has changed dramatically.

  • 5.3-inch display 1920x1080,
  • 8-core 64-bit Shapdragon 615 processor with a frequency of 1.5 GHz,
  • 2 GB RAM,
  • 32 GB of internal memory,
  • LTE support,
  • support for two SIM cards (nano SIM),
  • main camera 13 Mpix,
  • front camera 13 Mpix (this is not a typo),
  • battery 2140 mAh.

As stated, the advantage of the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro smartphone is that its performance is much greater than that of competing models. This is due to the fact that all processor cores work simultaneously in any situation.

Vibe X2 Pro runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system with the proprietary Vibe UI 2.0 shell.

The design of the smartphone really deserves attention. Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro stands out thanks to its sophisticated design - if you look at the smartphone from the side, it seems that it consists of three layers. At the same time, regardless of the coloring of the layers, the front panel is always glossy black and covered with protected glass. The back cover is available in pink, blue or gold. The body of the smartphone is completely metal, and this automatically places the smartphone in the premium segment.

It is also necessary to mention the original stylish accessory created specifically for this smartphone. This is a Lenovo VIBE Xtension Selfie Flash, which connects via a 3.5 mm connector and will definitely appeal to those who like to take pictures of themselves. The flash has eight LED bulbs that provide diffuse light, and the battery has a capacity of 100 flashes. (Read the article about why people take selfies).

The manufacturer has announced a sales start date of April 2015. The device will cost about $500, which is quite a reasonable price for a device of this class.

Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro review: a metal smartphone for selfies

The unusual “puff” look of the Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone has become the calling card of the model. The designers did a great job, so the middle-class candy bar became one of the brightest smartphones of last year. Most manufacturers follow a simple path: they took the design of the flagship, slightly reduced the size of the case, and here it is, a new representative of the mid-range.

Lenovo thought differently and did not release another clone for sale. But the Vibe X2 has a copy in the form of the Vibe X2 Pro, which was announced during the January exhibition in Las Vegas. The model has attracted interest for many reasons: metal in the case, a pair of SIM cards and LTE, microSD support, an advanced front camera and a new Qualcomm processor. We still need to look for such a combination of characteristics, so we decided not to ignore this model. In general, it’s worth considering that Lenovo now offers several devices with similar characteristics: the Vibe X2, the “iPhone-like” S90, and at the last MWC they also announced a new camera phone, the Vibe Shot, which will fall into the same price group. We decided to take a closer look at the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro to find out what is the beauty of the new product, which was created with an eye on the Asian markets. The company does not plan to supply the smartphone to Russia, but we were interested in trying this model live. Suddenly it’s worth ordering it online or turning to the help of “gray” sellers.

Design Multi-colored stripes look interesting, the “sandwich” design is a fresh, original and not boring design technique. The angular monoblock is average in weight, not the lightest, but it won’t be a burden either. The thickness of the case is pleasant for clothing pockets: 7.3.mm in the X2 has been reduced to an even more modest 6.95mm in the X2 Pro. Compared to its more rounded counterparts, its chopped shapes do not look conservative; here its three-layer construction plays a role, which adds a feeling of lightness to an already thin body.

The flat sides and non-slip body fit perfectly into the palm, so the ergonomics are excellent. The smartphone may be a little big for some people, after all, it is 5.3 inches. But in fairness, the model should be praised for its small screen frames; the design is well thought out for life.

If you don’t have the “regular” X2 at hand, then the Pro version can easily be confused with it.

The screen diagonal has grown, but not very much. Therefore, using a smartphone every day, you can’t help but feel that this is the same Vibe X2, only in a slightly enlarged format. Here, the rear panel received, as in the original X2, a metal coating. Due to the similar style in the design of the case, the new product looks almost like the previously released model, the only difference being slightly changed case sizes and new colors. We visited a white and gold device, and in addition, two more versions of the model will be offered in a pink and blue design, where the layers will be in different orders.

The design, as it is now established, is non-separable, so SIM cards must be inserted using a “clip”; you won’t be able to just get into the connector. The device is assembled perfectly, there is nothing to complain about, no matter how much you want. Above the screen, the large opening of the front camera attracts attention; there are light and proximity sensors, and next to the earpiece there is a light indicator. There are three touch buttons under the screen; their backlight can be turned off in the settings if necessary.

The back part is designed extremely minimalistically. In the upper left corner there is a camera lens and flash, a branded logo in the center, at the bottom there are speaker holes and a contact pad for working with branded cases.

Screen The display resolution is no different from its twin brother; the X2 Pro has the same 1080x1920 pixels.

But the diagonal has grown compared to the X2 and is now 5.3 inches.

Due to this, the pixel density has decreased slightly to 416 PPI. This is more than enough for smooth fonts and high-quality images on the screen. The IPS display itself has no air gap, it has an oleophobic coating, and it also supports glove operation. In the settings you can change the color balance if you don’t like the default mode.

Our expert Mikhail Kuznetsov conducted detailed testing of the screen:

The screen of the Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro smartphone uses a 5.3-inch IPS LCD matrix with a resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD), which provides a pixel density of 416 ppi. The image is clear and smooth, the rendering of small fonts and details is very good.

The measured maximum brightness in the default mode was 491 cd/m2, and if we are talking about a special high-brightness mode, then 660 cd/m2 are available. In any case, there will be enough brightness to spare. The contrast ratio is average - about 908:1. The anti-reflective layer copes well with external illumination, so the image remains highly legible in bright light. Viewing angles are typically wide for IPS: colors are slightly distorted, and blacks acquire a purple tint only when viewed diagonally.

The average gamma is 2.22, the indicator is even and close to the standard.

The average color temperature is about 7600K. The color balance is quite stable throughout the entire range, but the red component is noticeably lacking. The average gray scale Delta E error is 6.25. There is a bluish tint visible in the image.

The color gamut significantly exceeds the sRGB standard and approaches DCI P3. Accordingly, all images look somewhat embellished.

The ColorChecker rating yields an average Delta E color error of 5.97. Distortion exceeds the desired threshold due to the unusually wide color gamut.

Custom Settings allows you to switch between several screen modes: Default, Adaptive, High Brightness, and Custom. In “Custom” mode, you can adjust the image hue and brightness of colors to your liking. This is a definite plus for the device; in our case, we were able to correct the hue of the image and somewhat even out the colors.

The Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro screen was able to please with a large reserve of brightness and good anti-glare properties, thanks to which the image looks pleasant in different conditions. A non-standard color gamut introduces unnecessary distortion, but some people, on the contrary, will like rich, intense colors. Overall, the screen offers a pretty good balance of qualities and should appeal to most users, plus the image can be adjusted to suit your tastes.

Camera The main camera shoots in 13 megapixel resolution, while the front module is more advanced. There is autofocus and wide-angle optics. The camera responds to gestures, so by waving your hand in front of the lens, you can immediately take a photo without touching the screen. Convenient, there will be no blurry photos. A flash would also be nice, but instead, when taking a photo, the screen fills with yellow or pink, setting the brightness to maximum for a second. This thing won’t help when shooting in the dark, but if the situation is just a little dark, then it makes sense.

Following the HTC Desire Eye, which was created in the wake of the selfie fashion, Lenovo also offers a very advanced camera for self-portrait lovers.

We tested a pre-production sample; it shot noticeably worse than the Vibe X2. There is reason to believe that this is due to the non-final nature of the software. Smartphones have the same modules, so the quality of the pictures should be identical. The Vibe X2 made a good impression with its shooting results, so its twin brother will also be a good option for mobile photography.

Shooting examples:

Examples of photos taken with the front camera

Video recording example

Performance Unlike the Vibe X2, the new device received a Qualcomm processor, not a MediaTek one. The 64-bit system offers a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 615 chip and 2 GB of RAM. This model also has 32 GB of memory, the built-in volume will be enough, but if this is not enough, then microSD can be installed instead of one SIM card. Convenient and practical, this was not the case in the X2.

In tests, the model scores lower than the Vibe X2, the difference in performance is noticeable.

This is not to say that Pro is much slower, but in demanding games the difference will be noticeable, and there may be slight stuttering.

The smartphone has a battery capacity of 2410 mAh, which is slightly more compared to the Vibe X2. Due to a less powerful processor and a larger battery, the Vibe X2 Pro lasts a little longer. Let's say, not 2, but 2.5 hours in games. Not 4.5, but 5.5 hours in video mode. However, there is no significant difference; the X2 Pro must be charged twice a day during active use.

The problem with modest operating times has not been resolved in the Vibe X2 Pro.

Shell The interface is easy to learn, the Vibe UI 2.0 shell offers design themes, gesture control, you can customize the notification menu, and use various sound profiles. To answer a call, you just need to hold the phone to your ear, and if you turn the screen down when there is an incoming call, the sound will turn off. The double tap function not only wakes up the screen, but also locks the display. Smart standby allows you to monitor the user's eyes through the front camera, while the display backlight will work. It is supported by operating the device while wearing gloves; when the phone is in your pocket, the melody will ring louder, and if it rings in your hands, then the signal will automatically become quieter.

Opinion of Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru Internal competition between products with similar characteristics is useless in these difficult times, especially considering the positioning of the new smartphone. For example, for 16 thousand rubles you can buy a Meizu m1 note similar in characteristics. And for the X2 Pro, in terms of rubles, you would have to pay about 30 thousand. The metal in the case and the memory card slot are clearly not worth the extra cost. But Lenovo has Vibe X2, S90, P70, Vibe Shot, so the X2 Pro would look a little strange against their background.

Which is better, X2 or X2 Pro? The latter is inferior in performance, but slightly better in operating time, it also has a modified front camera and an increased screen size. Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro plays the role of an addition to the lineup, which takes into account the currently popular selfie fashion. As a result, having assessed the capabilities of the smartphone, we can say that the Russian buyer will not lose anything due to the lack of a model in retail.
